Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians of Oregon Grants $3,000 to The Fund

March 7, 2011

The American Indian College Fund (the Fund) received a $3,000 donation from the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund, the charitable giving arm of the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians of Oregon. This inaugural grant establishes the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians Tribal Scholars Program, which will provide scholarships to Native students pursuing higher education during the 2011-12 academic year. Preference will be given to students attending a college or university, or who are residents of, the state of Oregon.

“We are very pleased to partner with the American Indian College Fund to provide scholarships that help American Indians throughout the United States gain higher education,” said Kelley Ellis, Secretary of the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund. “Over 75 percent of all Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund grants have been disbursed to education-related needs. Education has always been a priority for the Siletz Tribe and we continue to demonstrate this through our charitable contributions.”

“We are grateful for this new partnership with the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians of Oregon,” said Richard B. Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund. “This generosity will help Native students from Oregon pursue dreams of attaining a college degree.”
