Achieving the Dream

The Achieving the Dream (ATD) student success initiative is a three-year (2013-2016) grant for two TCUs. Diné College and Salish Kootenai College were awarded and participated in the Achieving the Dream student success initiative.

Student Success Programs at TCUs

This review of literature focuses primarily on the relationship between financial aid and students’ success in higher education. Wherever possible, it will focus specifically on the experiences and challenges faced by American Indians Alaskan Native (AIAN) students.

TCU Intellectual Capital

In February 2007 the American Indian College Fund announced a historic grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. The five-year, $17.5 million grant initiative, named Woksape Oyate, Lakota for “Wisdom of the People,” built the intellectual capital of TCUs. The initiative allowed them to tailor programs to address their individual needs while strengthening the entire tribal college system.
