Denver, Colo. – The American Indian College Fund was awarded a $35,000 grant by the Travelers Foundation, the charitable arm of The Travelers Companies, Inc, to renew its longstanding commitment to empower American Indian students to achieve academic and professional success. The Travelers Foundation Tribal College Scholarship Program will continue to provide much-needed scholarship support to American Indian students who are residents of Minnesota, Washington, Montana and/or Kansas and are attending one of the tribal colleges in those states, or are attending mainstream colleges in the cities of St. Paul- Minneapolis, Minnesota; Seattle, Washington; Spokane, Washington; Missoula, Montana; and Kansas City, Kansas. All recipients must be majoring in the following fields: business, accounting, computer science, computer technology, engineering and/or mathematics.

The American Indian College Fund will also utilize a portion of the grant to send recipients to the Travelers office in St. Paul, Minnesota for a student career day. This career day will provide the valuable opportunity for scholars to network with Travelers employees and discuss potential employment opportunities after college.

“Travelers is proud to support the American Indian College Fund,” said Deb Morris, Travelers Foundation Program Officer. “At Travelers, we are committed to supporting initiatives that increase the academic and career success of underrepresented youth. We believe access to a quality education can provide limitless long-term opportunity.”
“We are grateful for the continued generosity of the Travelers Foundation,” said Richard B. Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund. “Because of this grant, even more Native students will have the opportunity to become professionals in the fields of business, accounting, computer science and technology, engineering and mathematics.”
