March 10, 2011

The American Indian College Fund received a $50,000 grant from the Travelers Foundation, the charitable arm of The Travelers Companies, Inc., to continue the Travelers Foundation Tribal College Scholarship Program for the 2011-12 academic year. This program will support six tribal and five mainstream American Indian college students with $4,000 scholarships. Students must earn a 3.0 grade point average and be majoring in fields related to business, accounting, computer science, or electrical engineering. Scholarship recipients will be selected from locations near targeted Travelers Companies’ offices.

“We are honored to continue our partnership with the Travelers Foundation,” said Richard B. Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund. “For 15 years, this generous company has partnered with the Fund to support American Indian higher education, and with this renewed gift, we can continue to help Native students reach their educational and career goals.”

“Travelers is proud to partner with the American Indian College Fund in their efforts to increase educational opportunities at tribal colleges and universities across the country,” said Deb Morris, Program Officer for the Travelers Foundation. “Our longstanding relationship with the Fund reiterates our firm commitment to expanding access for all students, particularly the six tribal college and five mainstream students who will receive $4,000 scholarships through this initiative.”
