We invest in individual students to support their pursuit of a college degree, and we invest in TCUs as the institutions that can provide an intellectual and academic home for students in Native communities.
Providing technical assistance to TCUs, and academic and professional opportunities for students, as well as funding for both students and institutions, we work toward both student and institutional success.

Native Students Stepping Forward: Dollar General High School Equivalency Completion Program
Active Program Dates: 2014-Ongoing
The American Indian College Fund’s Native Students Stepping Forward: Dollar General High School Equivalency Completion Program aims to improve and support student and adult literacy in tribal communities by increasing the number of American Indians and Alaska Natives (AIAN) pursuing and achieving their General Education Diploma (GED) and/or High School Equivalency (HSE) credentials.
Women’s Leadership Programs
By connecting Native women students at TCUs with faculty within their academic disciplines, and providing support for strong mentoring relationships, the College Fund is helping to develop the next generation of Native women leadership.

The Indigenous Visionaries initiative builds upon the American Indian College Fund’s previous work for a number of years developing Native women leaders, through education, mentoring, and networking. Indigenous Visionaries focuses on connecting students at tribal colleges and universities (TCUs) with faculty members in their area of study.
Active Program Dates: 2010-2016
In March 2010 the American Indian College Fund (the Fund) received a grant from the Embrey Family Foundation to initiate a women’s leadership program. The Embrey American Indian Women’s Leadership Project was a four-year leadership program for 20 American Indian women attending tribal colleges who have a high potential for future leadership and the desire to earn a bachelor’s degree.

for Economic Leadership Summit
Tristen Flying Horse, a business management major who is working towards a bachelor’s degree at Sitting Bull College in Fort Yates, North Dakota, was selected to participate in this year’s NAFOA Leadership Summit. The summit is an opportunity for young leaders to attend a full day of programming prior to NAFOA’s 40th Annual Conference.
