TCU Faculty Writing Retreat

 

The College Fund’s Faculty Development Office, with generous support from the Henry Luce Foundation, regularly hosts writing retreats for tribal college and university (TCU) faculty. These two-day, virtual writing retreats provide TCU faculty the time to work on their writing projects in a community with other faculty members. Each writing retreat is facilitated by an Indigenous scholar who has extensive writing and editing experience and has mentored doctoral students and other writers.

These retreats are open to all TCU faculty (i.e., full-time faculty and adjunct instructors).

WHAT: Each writing retreat is open to 10-12 faculty members working on a writing project (e.g., dissertation, journal manuscript, creative piece, book manuscript)

FALL 2025 DATES:

  • Retreat 1: September 25-26, 2025
  • Retreat 2: November 6-7, 2025

TIME: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm MT each day (8-2 PT / 10-4 CT / 11-5 ET)

AGENDA: The facilitator will guide the group through timed writing blocks interspersed with short breaks. If you get stuck or want feedback, you can meet privately with the facilitator in a breakout room. Depending on the retreat, there may be a topic-specific discussion during the two days, but you will spend most of the time writing.

FORMAT: These writing retreats are held on Zoom.

APPLY: Space is limited at each retreat so you will need to complete a very short application. Priority will be given to faculty receiving a College Fund fellowship or working on a dissertation; however, we usually can accommodate everyone who applies. There is no registration fee.
