Future Planning Form

The American Indian College Fund’s Future Planning Form uses six Indigenous relational-based values (Six Rs) to guide your self-reflection, define your core values, and inspire your imagination as you think about your academic and professional journey. As you reflect, you can mentally map out your personal goals and consider what qualities make a “good professional relative.”

The Six Rs include Respect, Responsibility, Reciprocity, Relationship, Reflection, and Redistribution. These values can be applied across a wide range of academic degrees, professional fields, and employment statuses. Think of the Six Rs as a set of “Indigenous transferable skills” and useful frameworks to help think through choices and decisions in your personal and professional life.

This form is designed to assist you in thinking about a plan based on personal choices and smart judgment in professional development. When responding to the following questions, center your personal values and traditional ways of being/worldview (such as The Beauty Way, 7 Grandfather Teachings, Kinship, etc.) as much as possible. Take your time and be as thoughtful as you can in your responses.
