The American Indian College Fund received $150,000 from The UPS Foundation to continue the UPS Foundation Tribal College Scholarship Program. For 14 years, the program has been providing scholarship support to students attending the nation’s tribal colleges and universities (TCUs). The gift will provide a $2,250 scholarship for one student at each of the TCUs for both the spring and fall semesters of 2012.

“The UPS Foundation is proud to support the American Indian College Fund. These programs make a meaningful difference in many communities and each student’s life,” said Ken Sternad, president of the UPS Foundation.
“We are humbled by The UPS Foundation’s dedication to Native education. It is fitting that 14 inches of blowing snow could not keep the foundation from their continued support for our students, because our students must surmount great obstacles much greater than a mere snowstorm to complete their college educations,” said Richard Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund regarding the gift on the day of a blizzard in Denver, where the Fund is headquartered. Joe Loken, Area HR Manager of UPS’ Desert Mountain District, presented Williams with a check in the presence of longtime supporter of Native education, Colorado Senator Mark Udall. “The UPS Foundation’s commitment is an inspiration for us and our students,” Williams said.
