The American Indian College Fund’s (College Fund) scholarship season opens on February 1. Hundreds of scholarships are available for all areas of study under the Full Circle Scholarship Program, and students attending tribal colleges and universities can receive additional scholarship support with the program.
The National Native Scholarships Providers (NNSP) has released its first-ever National Study on College Affordability for Indigenous Students. Researchers have found the primary obstacle to college completion is affordability, causing overall college student attrition. Yet until NNSP’s research, the national data on the effect of college affordability on Indigenous students’ college completion had not been fully explored.
Thanks to Travois’ generous gift of $27,500 to the American Indian College Fund, 10 American Indian college students received scholarships to attend mainstream and tribal colleges and universities for the academic year 2021-22.

Native American students interested in attending college who are seeking a scholarship from the American Indian College Fund have an additional incentive to apply this year—the College Fund is offering $20 gift cards for every student that completes an application by April 30.
Thanks to a gift of $1 million from an anonymous donor, the American Indian College Fund awarded its second three-year American Indian Law School Scholarship to Samantha Maltais, an enrolled member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head/Aquinnah located on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, for the term beginning in the fall of 2021-22. The scholarship covers all costs of attendance, including tuition, for the three-year course of study at Harvard Law School.
