May 21 Is National Native Nonprofit Day!
Research shows that when non-profits are rooted in the communities they serve, they create much greater change. The American Indian College Fund, like other Native-led and Native-serving non-profits, understands the unique challenges of Native communities and the solutions for meeting those challenges. Yet these remarkable engines of opportunity receive less than .4 of 1% of all philanthropy dollars in the United States.
As a member of the board of directors for the Native Ways Foundation, I am proud to announce this Thursday, May 21, is National Native Nonprofit Day, a giving initiative aimed at increasing financial support awareness for Native-led organizations nationwide working to create greater opportunities and healthier, happier lives for their community members.
The American Indian College Fund supports the Native Ways Federation (NWF) to show how Native-led non-profits are working to overcome these systemic funding inequities to implement Native-led solutions in their communities to help Native people. By investing in Native-led nonprofits on National Native Nonprofit Day (and every day!) you help create positive change in Native communities through the amazing work of Native-led nonprofits across the country.
We invite you to support the College Fund and other Native-led non-profit organizations this Native Nonprofit Day and every day! You can:
- Share posts on your social media showing how you support #NativeNonprofits across #IndianCountry in celebration of #NativeNonprofitDay on May 21, 2026!
- Support the College Fund this #NativeNonprofitDay by making a donation at collegefund.org/donate.
Thank you for your support of Native-led organizations!
