The Jana Foundation Grants $10,000 to American Indian College Fund

January 10, 2010

Denver, Colo. – The American Indian College Fund (the Fund) received a $10,000 grant from the Jana Foundation for scholarships for American Indian students pursuing an education at tribal colleges and universities. The New York-based foundation has doubled its support since last year.

Richard B. Williams, President and CEO of the Fund, said, “The generosity of The Jana Foundation will help American Indian students achieve a higher education near their homes in an environment that celebrates their cultures while providing a quality education. Tribal colleges are located on or near reservations, allowing students who cannot otherwise afford to leave the reservation to attend college. We are grateful that in hard economic times the Jana Foundation chose to increase their support, as when times are hard American Indian students have an even more difficult time.”
