A Video Message for Mark Zuckerberg

Jul 28, 2017 | Blog, President's Blog

Greetings to our friends and supporters. This week I shared a video message on social media for Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla in the wake of their visit to the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana. In his Facebook post it was clear that the social and economic issues they saw made a powerful impression on them.

I created this video to add to that impression our tenacity and hope, and how the American Indian College Fund and tribal colleges and universities work to transform individuals, their families, and our communities through higher education. In 28 years, the American Indian College Fund has awarded nearly 120,000 scholarships to American Indian students. Yet only 13.8% of Native people age 25 and older have a college degree, which is less than half of the national average!

Working with the Zuckerbergs and all of our supporters, we are certain we can lift an entire population of underserved people. Education is the answer to bringing transformative change to our people and our communities.

Please share this video and blog on your social media channels to encourage the Zuckerbergs to support Native education and the American Indian College Fund. Tag them if you can. Thanks for your support of American Indian higher education!
