An Interview with Monique Moran, GED Graduate

The American Indian College Fund and Sinte Gleska University (SGU) are sharing this powerful GED story demonstrating the success of the Dollar General American Indian and Alaska Native Literacy and Adult Education Program.

The Sinte Gleska University Adult Basic Education/GED department provides free GED tutoring and testing services to approximately 120 adult learners annually on the Rosebud Reservation and surrounding counties in south central South Dakota.

The American Indian College Fund’s Dollar General GED program provides SGU’s GED students with access to learning materials, educational software, free GED testing, and other assistance to help them succeed.

The following interview is of Monique Moran, a 2018 SGU GED graduate. Monique is currently a student at Sinte Gleska University majoring in Business Management.

Nine Indigenous students from across Indian Country were selected to serve as the American Indian College Fund’s (College Fund) 2024-25 student ambassadors. Student ambassadors gain valuable leadership and communications skills while working to create greater visibility of American Indians and Alaska Natives and an understanding of the importance of their cultures.
