Sysco Corporation, a global leader in selling, marketing and distributing food products, donated $15,000 to the American Indian College Fund to support the Sysco Corporation Tribal College Scholarship Program. This program will provide 10 scholarships to American Indian students studying casino/gaming, hospitality, culinary arts, tribal administration, tribal management, tribal government, and/or business-related degree programs at the nation’s 33 accredited tribal colleges and universities.

According to Al Gaylor, Sysco’s Vice President of Industry Relations and Diversity, education and development is a primary focus area of the company’s community outreach efforts. “The most vital link between our present and future is education. Sysco is a proud supporter of higher education and empowering youth to become leaders of tomorrow. We understand the importance of education in advancing our society and believe that promoting education affords our youth endless possibilities and opportunities.”

“Sysco Corporation is enriching the lives of Native students and their families as a result of their gift of scholarships,” said Richard B. Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund. “Through an education, Native people are changing not only their lives, but the lives of their families and people in their communities.”
