The Tierney Family Foundation Grants the American Indian College Fund $15,000 for Scholarships

Denver, Colorado –The Tierney Family Foundation has granted the American Indian College Fund with a $15,000 grant for scholarships for American Indian students. The grant will support qualified American Indian students who show academic achievement and involvement in their communities by providing financial resources to encourage them to complete a college degree. With an education, students have the confidence, skills, and cultural knowledge to improve their lives and to make valuable contributions to American Indian communities and to the nation as a whole.

Richard B. Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund said, “The continued generosity of The Tierney Family Foundation helps American Indian students achieve a college education while giving them hope for a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities. We are grateful to the Tierney Family Foundation for their commitment to American Indian education.”

Susan Tierney of The Tierney Family Foundation and a former board member of the American Indian College Fund said, “After visiting the tribal colleges on the reservations and seeing firsthand the important work being done there, Native Americans will always have a special place in my heart. Education is the mission of The Tierney Family Foundation and I believe strongly in Indian education. We are delighted to continue to support this great cause.”

This Monday, October 14, marks Indigenous Peoples Day, a day to honor and celebrate the histories and cultures of Native peoples here in the United States. As of last Indigenous Peoples Day in 2023, approximately 195 cities and states recognized the holiday. Here at the American Indian College Fund, we want to take this day to highlight some of the amazing contributions Indigenous peoples have made to the world and share a preview of our upcoming Native American Heritage Month activities.
