American Indian College Fund Receives Grant from Hilton Worldwide for Scholarships

The American Indian College Fund received a grant from Hilton Worldwide to support the Hilton Worldwide Tribal College Hospitality Scholarship Program for the 2011-12 academic year. Hilton Worldwide, a renowned global leader in the hotel and hospitality industry, will provide scholarships for students studying hospitality or business at Blackfeet Community College, Mont.; Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College, Wis.; or Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, N.M.

Students who receive the award must also be high academic achievers, have outstanding leadership qualities, and be involved with the Native community. Students are also eligible to apply for internship opportunities with Hilton Worldwide.

“The Hilton Worldwide Tribal College Hospitality Scholarship Program was created last year to provide ongoing financial support for American Indian youth interested in pursuing hospitality careers,” said Michael C. Ford, vice president, global diversity and inclusion, Hilton Worldwide. “We are committed to supporting our future leaders and creating a diverse pipeline of talent.”

Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund. “In addition to providing Native students with the opportunity for a higher education, Hilton Worldwide will be providing them with the ability to apply for internship opportunities.”
