FedEx Grants $25,000 to American Indian College Fund to Establish Scholarship Program

December 22, 2011

FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) awarded $25,000 to the American Indian College Fund to provide 10 Native freshmen students attending tribal college with $2,250 scholarships for the 2011-12 academic year.

Scholarship recipients must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average from high school and maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average while in college, while demonstrating leadership and commitment to the American Indian community.

“FedEx supports organizations and initiatives that positively impact the communities we serve,” said Rose Flenorl, Manager Social Responsibility. “We are committed to increasing the number of minority students who attend college and prepare to work in the global economy. FedEx is proud to work with the American Indian College Fund to provide Native students access to a college education.”

“FedEx support of tribal college freshmen will enable them to make the first important step towards earning a college degree when they might not otherwise be able to afford an education,” said Richard B. Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund. “Many of our tribal college students live in poverty, we are grateful for FedEx’s support that will allow our students to succeed academically and create a better life for themselves, their families, and their communities.”
