Red Nation Film Festival Proceeds to Help College Fund

Los Angeles, CA – Red Nation Film Festival proudly announces the 10th Annual Red Nation Film Awards, in Los Angeles, CA, during American Indian Heritage Month. RNFF is home to “The Authentic Voice of American Indian & Indigenous Cinema” and is hosting the awards show on November 11, 2013 at Paramount Studios.

The Red Nation Film Award of Excellence honors outstanding movie-making achievements by American Indian filmmakers and thereby encourages excellence in all facets of motion picture production. Each year achievements in up to 15 categories are honored. The Red Nation Statuette has positioned itself to become the most recognized American Indian trophy in the world.

Red Nation Awards Show on November 11th, Red Nation Pictures will roll a Red is Green Carpet Gala event, and is expecting hundreds of reporters from around the world to take photos and interviews with native celebrities, Hollywood celebrities, and native filmmakers in attendance, according to RNFF Founder/Producer/Actor, Joanelle Romero.

Film enthusiasts will be cheering for all the native films and actors that are up for this year’s awards. Tickets to the premiere Red Nation Film Awards in Los Angeles are now available for purchase. Revenue collected from ticket sales is being donated to the American Indian College Fund, which provides scholarships to 34 different tribal colleges.

RNFF premiere’s American Indian & Indigenous Cinema, November 1 -­? 30, 2013. Highlights include documentaries, feature films, movie shorts, music videos, environmental films; Star-­?Studded Red is Green Carpet Galas, Red Nation Conversation Series, VIP parties, industry exclusives, Red Nation Indian
Market, Fashion Show, and Music Fest, including television retrospectives of American Indian, Indigenous Peoples, and Canadian First Nation communities. This year’s selection continues to establish new talent and celebrates the diverse cultural expression in the tradition of cinematic experience in new media.

Red Nation Film Festival is the venue to experience American Indian Cinema at its nest, home to the native documentary voice. In recent years, the festival has held similar premieres with partnerships including:

  • Summit Entertainment’s Twilight-­? New Moon which RNFF screened before being released into public theaters and was a first for Summit Entertainment in regards to a festival.
  • Frozen River was screened at RNFF and went on to garner two Academy Award® nominations and six Spirit Awards nominations.
  • The Garden screened at RNFF and went on to receive a nomination for Best Documentary Feature at the 81st Academy Awards.
  • Yellow Rock feature film has won awards across the country since winning their first award at RNFF in 2011 as well as received a national distribution deal as a result of being directly screened and winning an award at our festival.
  • Honor the Treaties was screened and won Best Documentary Short at RNFF in 2012 and then went on to win an Emmy® in 2013.
  • RNFF was invited in 2012 to submit our festival films for consideration into the National Association of Colored People’s (NAACP) Image Awards. This was the first time in the history of the NAACP Image Awards that American Indian Films were considered..
