Red Lake Nation College, located in Red Lake, Minnesota, provides a higher education grounded in the Ojibwe language and culture. The college provides two-year associate degrees with the hope that students will go on to attain four-year bachelor degrees as well as master’s and doctorate degrees.
Courses offered include Anishinaabe studies, indigenous people in cinema and popular culture, Anishinaabe art, biology, anatomy and physiology, writing and reading skills, composition, creative writing, cultural geography, algebra, math reasoning, Indigenous American philosophy, ethics introduction to American politics, physical science, race and gender relations, speech and communications, contemporary fitness and nutrition, fundamentals of web design and app development, and computer basics, to name a few.
The school offers many opportunities for student activities, as well as ways for students to initiate new clubs. The school also has opportunities for students to engage in leadership opportunities with the student council.
