Happy International Girls Day!

Oct 11, 2018 | Blog, Inside the College Fund

Did you know that 65% of American Indian College Fund scholarship applicants are female?

Robin Maxkii is just one of our successful female scholars—a Stockbridge Munsee woman, a computer coder, and a passionate advocate for higher education for all Natives and women and girls in tech.

In her first year of college at a tribal college, Robin sold her car to pay for her tuition, trusting that something would come along to help see her through to graduation. But Robin might not have made it to where she is today without the support of professors, mentors, other Native students, scholarships, and a mountain of tenacity.

Today Robin is using her skills to inspire others to achieve their goals. In the past year and a half she has worked to expand her outreach to underserved communities through technology and storytelling to help Native students and professionals access careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. Her latest project is celebrating #sisterhood to empower girls by sharing her story in honor of International Day of the Girls.
