The Estée Lauder Tribal Scholars Program has granted the American Indian College Fund $11,000 to provide 10 scholarships to American Indian students studying marketing, business, environmental science, or a related field at a tribal college in Minnesota.

The American Indian College Fund received $11,000 from Hilton Worldwide for Native students studying hospitality, tourism, food services, or business at Blackfeet Community College, Mont.; Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College, Minn.; or Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, N.M. and those willing to intern with the company are eligible to apply.

Fifteen thousand dollars of the grant will fund unrestricted scholarships, and $10,000 will fund the Edwin Arwin Thornton Scholarship Endowment, established in 2009 in memory of Edwin Arwin Thornton. The Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company Foundation awarded $60,000 to the American Indian College Fund (the Fund) for the Achieving the Dream Scholarship Program. The program assists Native students who are single parents and/or in the first year of an associate’s degree program, attending Diné College, Navajo Technical College, Sisseton Wahpeton College, Sinte Gleska University, or Oglala Lakota College. Preference is given to past Achieving the Dream Scholars. Each scholar receives a $4,000 scholarship split between fall and spring semesters.

The American Indian College Fund will award 16 scholarships to first-generation, first-time Native tribal college students through a $100,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation. For more than a decade, the Walmart Foundation has funded Native student scholarships through the American Indian College Fund.

The Hershey Company granted $22,000 to the American Indian College Fund (the Fund) for Native student scholarships. The gift will provide scholarships to Native or Native descendant students attending tribal colleges or mainstream universities who are studying math, technology, science, engineering, and/or business.

MetLife Foundation granted $15,000 this month to continue the MetLife Foundation Tribal College Scholarship Program. Now in its 12th year, this program provides scholarships to Native students attending tribal colleges and universities.
