Diné College Museum Wins National Award

Diné College is a shining of example of how tribal colleges provide a high-quality education while serving as the caretakers of their tribes’ cultures. The Ned A. Hatathli Cultural Center Museum at Diné College received the Museum Excellence Award from the Association of Tribal Archives, Libraries, and Museums (ATALM) for expanding its museum and serving as an outstanding example of how Indigenous archives, libraries, museums, and individuals contribute to the vitality and culture sovereignty of Native Nations.

American Indian College Fund emeritus trustee Gail Bruce was honored at a special reception on March 9 by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Multicultural Audience Development Initiative (MADI), as part of Women’s History Month. Gail was one of the original founders of the American Indian College Fund and is an entrepreneur, artist, and American Indian activist, and was honored for her work at the Met as well as her work in Native higher education.

Christmas came early for close to 300 American Indian elders from the Denver Native community. On December 2, Natives ages 55 and older gathered at the Cable Center at the University of Denver to enjoy a holiday meal of buffalo and gifts bestowed by a Native Santa Claus, courtesy of the American Indian College Fund.
