In support of American Indian students’ pursuit of higher education, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) recently granted $85,000 to the American Indian College Fund to continue the Nissan Corporate Scholars Program. The program has provided scholarship support to Native scholars attending tribal colleges and mainstream universities for more than a decade.

2010 American Indian Elders Dinner A Success
The Fund served up a feast for Native elders, including roast buffalo, green beans, mashed potatoes, fry bread, and posole. Traditional Native entertainment included Native flute, drumming and singing, and a special appearance by Santa Claus, who distributed goodie bags and hams to the crowd. Drawings were also held for a variety of door prizes.
Kalliopeia Foundation Grants American Indian College Fund $80,000
The Kalliopeia Foundation has announced it is granting the American Indian College Fund $80,000 over a period of two years, with $30,000 for scholarships each year plus $10,000 for operating support per year. A supporter of the Fund since 2004, the foundation has focused on providing scholarships for tribal college students pursuing a teaching degree with the intent to serve as American Indian language instructors.
The Castle Rock Foundation Grants $34,000 for Student of the Year Program
The Denver-based Castle Rock Foundation has announced it will renew a pledge of $34,000 for the 2011 American Indian College Fund Student of the Year award. Under the program, one outstanding student from each of the accredited 33 tribal colleges and universities in the United States will receive a $1,000 scholarship check for tuition, fees, room and board, books or other educational needs.

Cargill Supports American Indian College Fund with $100,000 Donation to Scholarship Program
American Indian College Fund has received $100,000 from Cargill to continue the Cargill Tribal College Scholarship Program for the 2010-2011 academic year. This program provides much-needed scholarship support to Native students attending the nation’s tribal colleges and universities, with particular emphasis on tribal college students who attend institutions where Cargill has a strong business presence.

The American Indian College Fund has raised money for scholarships for Native college students from across the nation for 21 years, while also supporting the nation’s 33 tribal colleges and universities.
2010 Flame of Hope Gala Raises $385,000 for Student Scholarships
For 15 years, the American Indian College Fund’s Flame of Hope Gala has been vital to raising money for scholarships and tribal college support. This year the event, held at the Seawell Grand Ballroom at the Denver Center of the Performing Arts in Denver on Thursday, Oct. 14, raised $385,000.
American Indian College Fund Names Embrey Family Foundation Women’s Leadership Project Scholars
The Dallas, Texas-based Embrey Family Foundation has awarded the American Indian College Fund a $1 million grant over a four-year period for a Native women’s leadership program.
The project provides 20 scholarships and leadership training for American Indian women pursuing their bachelor’s degrees. As part of the leadership training, participants will attend annual retreats to develop skills and gain networking opportunities.
